1+1=1, a short film featuring a collection of fashion objects designed by Saumya Sharma, is a playful documentation of how our familiarity with the things we use everyday makes us oblivious to them.
Even a slight change in something suddenly makes it more noticeable and provokes us to explore it with a fresh eye. This is an ironical exploration of the theory of affordances that says that the human interpretation of a new object is largely determined by how we think we can use it, rather than what it looks like.
These absurd person-object interactions question our subconscious relationship with everyday objects, by creating awareness through discomfort.
The collection of fashion accessories
featured in the film itself is inspired by ideas of Dada where the viewer’s expectations are thrown back at them, but in a distorted way. The idea was to create an environment where these objects exist.
